WILD HORSE NINE

Academy Award-nominated writer-director Martin McDonagh (IN BRUGES, THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN) returns with WILD HORSE NINE, a wickedly dark comedy of espionage, existential dread, and spectacularly bad decisions. Set on Easter Island in the turbulent months preceding Chile’s 1973 military coup, the film stars John Malkovich and longtime McDonagh collaborator Sam Rockwell as CIA agents dispatched on a covert mission far from home. But isolation, personal demons, shifting loyalties, and mounting complications soon send their carefully laid plans spiraling into chaos.

Against the island’s stark and otherworldly landscape, McDonagh applies his trademark razor-sharp dialogue and pitch-black humor to questions of power, complicity, and moral responsibility, where nobody emerges entirely innocent. Featuring a remarkable ensemble cast including Steve Buscemi, Mariana di Girolamo, Ailín Salas, Tom Waits, and Parker Posey, WILD HORSE NINE is a biting, unpredictable collision of political thriller, absurdist comedy, and existential drama from one of contemporary cinema’s most singular provocateurs.
