WE ARE ALL STRANGERS

In contemporary Singapore, 21-year-old Junyang drifts through the freedoms of youth while his father struggles to keep their modest life together. But when an unexpected, life-altering turn in Junyang’s relationship with his girlfriend forces the young couple to confront adulthood far sooner than anticipated, the comfortable distance between father and son begins to collapse.

Meanwhile, an exuberant woman enters his father’s life, bringing the possibility of companionship and change while quietly disrupting the fragile balance of their household. As father and son navigate relationships moving in unexpected directions, both generations find themselves confronting questions of love, loss, responsibility, and belonging.

Acclaimed Singaporean filmmaker Anthony Chen (ILO ILO, WET SEASON, BREAKING ICE) returns with WE ARE ALL STRANGERS, an intimate, deeply human portrait of a family in transition. Observing the shifting bonds between parents, children, and partners with characteristic tenderness, Chen explores how families fracture, reform, and endure—and how those we choose can become as essential as those we are born to.
