TAKE ME HOME

Rooted in writer-director Liz Sargent’s and star Anna Sargent’s real-life experiences, TAKE ME HOME follows two Korean American sisters whose caregiving responsibilities are upended when a Florida heat wave shatters the fragile balance of their family life. Anna (Anna Sargent), an adoptee caring for her aging parents, must navigate an uncertain future alongside her sister Emily (Ali Ahn) and their devoted father Bob (Victor Slezak), who is quietly concealing signs of dementia.

Expanded from Sargent’s acclaimed short film, which premiered at the HIFF 2023, the feature explores the challenges faced by disabled individuals and the families who care for them, while exposing gaps in America’s healthcare system. Yet the film remains deeply hopeful, tracing Anna’s journey toward independence and chosen family. TAKE ME HOME world premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, followed by its international premiere at the Berlinale.

This film is presented as part of the New American Perspectives series in partnership with the Vilcek Foundation. The first screening will be followed by a Q&A with NAP Honoree Liz Sargent.
