SUMO: SPIRIT WEIGHS NOTHING

Moving between sumo stables, where wrestlers live and train under strict hierarchies, Shirai captures both the physical brutality of the sport and the quieter struggle to refine the spirit behind it. Through victories, injuries, setbacks, and relentless training emerges an intimate portrait of men testing the limits of body and identity. An international co-production between Japan, the United States, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, this ESPN Films production world premiered at the Venice Film Festival, offering an extraordinary window into a centuries-old tradition rarely seen from within.

SUMO: SPIRIT WEIGHS NOTHING

『SUMO SPIRIT WEIGHS NOTHING』
