Acclaimed South Korean auteur Lee Chang-dong makes his long-awaited return with POSSIBLE LOVE, his first feature since 2018’s BURNING, world premiering at the Venice Film Festival. The film brings together two married couples from vastly different circumstances: Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) and her recently laid-off husband Ho-seok (Sul Kyung-gu), and affluent documentary filmmaker Ye-ji (Cho Yeo-jeong) and her husband Sang-woo (Zo In-sung).
When Ye-ji begins making a documentary about laid-off workers, the lives of the two couples unexpectedly intersect. As professional curiosity gives way to increasing intimacy, their relationships become entangled, bringing long-suppressed emotions, frustrations and hidden desires to the surface. The celebrated filmmaker behind SECRET SUNSHINE, PEPPERMINT CANDY and BURNING returns to the territory of human connection with an incisive relationship drama examining marriage, class and desire.
