HAWAIʻI PREMIERE
MINOTAUR
Minotaure
Set in Russia in 2022, Andrey Zvyagintsev''s MINOTAUR follows Gleb, a successful corporate executive whose meticulously ordered life begins to fracture under mounting business pressures and the growing instability of a nation in crisis. As cracks appear in both his professional and personal worlds, suspicion, obsession, and suppressed rage propel him toward an irreversible act of violence.
Loosely inspired by Claude Chabrol''s landmark psychological thriller THE UNFAITHFUL WIFE, later reimagined by Adrian Lyne as UNFAITHFUL (2002), Zvyagintsev transforms the familiar premise into a haunting examination of power, privilege, and moral collapse in contemporary Russia. With his signature precision and emotional intensity, the acclaimed director crafts a slow-burning psychological drama that probes the darkness lurking beneath outward success. A sensation at the Cannes Film Festival, MINOTAUR stands as another masterful work from one of world cinema''s most uncompromising auteurs, offering a chilling portrait of a man and a society coming apart.
