JOSEPHINE

Eight-year-old Josephine’s childhood is abruptly shattered when she accidentally witnesses a violent crime in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Unable to fully comprehend what she has seen, she becomes consumed by fear and anger, acting out as she desperately searches for a way to feel safe again. Her fiercely protective father (Channing Tatum) and compassionate mother (Gemma Chan) struggle to reach their daughter, discovering that love alone cannot easily repair the invisible wounds left by trauma.

Writer-director Beth de Araújo (SOFT & QUIET) crafts a tense and deeply empathetic portrait of childhood innocence confronted by violence, placing audiences within Josephine’s increasingly unsettled perspective. Anchored by a remarkable performance from newcomer Mason Reeves, JOSEPHINE explores how trauma reverberates through a family and how children process a world they suddenly understand to be dangerous.
