AAPI FILMMAKER IN FOCUS: : ENOUGH + THUMBRINT

AAPI FILMMAKER IN FOCUS, presented by the Daniel K Inouye Institute,  celebrates the power of AAPI storytelling through two new short films examining the Japanese American experience during World War II and its enduring legacy across generations.  Directed by Brian Tee, ENOUGH connects a present-day biracial student with a Japanese American teenager in 1981 as her father becomes involved in the historic fight for reparations for WWII incarceration survivors. The film stars Tee alongside Tamlyn Tomita and Amy Hill. Directed by Chris Naoki Lee, THUMBPRINT follows Japanese photographer Midori Shimoda, who recounts his interrogation by the FBI and escape from California to avoid incarceration, pursuing an American dream in a country that viewed him with suspicion. Starring Steve Terada, Yuji Okumoto, and Miki Ishikawa, the film illuminates a deeply personal chapter of American history.
