9 TEMPLES TO HEAVEN

As the day stretches on and the temples begin to blur together, old disagreements surface, personalities collide, and their increasingly exhausted grandmother begins to question the pilgrimage itself. Director Sompot Chidgasornpongse transforms a distinctly Thai spiritual tradition into a tender, wryly observed family odyssey about mortality, faith, and the complicated ways families express love. Both intimate and gently humorous, 9 TEMPLES TO HEAVEN asks whether devotion can truly change fate, or whether the greater blessing lies in simply being together while there is still time. World Premiere, Cannes Film Festival.

This film is nominated for the HIFF 2026 Kau Ka Hōkū Award presented by Hawaiian Airlines.
